Job Title: Project Engineer

Job Duties:
Lead, design and integrate mechanical systems that achieve proper product functionality as well as cost efficiency. Develop engineering documentation and instructions to document the system construction and to transfer technical data to both manufacturing and customers. Be a safety role model. Create and promote a safe work environment. Manage project timelines and milestones. Create CAD models, assembly and manufacturing instructions, test plans and inspection protocols that deliver quality product, cost effective and on time. Actively engage with all of WRT stakeholders to realize product cost effectively. Problem solves and redesign as required. Implement mistake-proofing concepts to prevent product defects. Analyze and design fixtures, processes and recommend automation of process including new equipment. Ensure vendors/subcontractors are manufacturing products according to product specifications. Ensure that all product specifications are developed, and testing procedures are in place before utilizing vendors/subcontractors. Provide input and support during the selection process of vendors. Complete other tasks as assigned or required. Approximately 10% domestic travel to various unanticipated sites throughout the U.S. is required.
Requirements:
The position of Project Engineer requires a Bachelor’s degree or its foreign equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field and 2 years of progressively responsible, post-baccalaureate experience in a related occupation. In the alternative, the employer will accept a Master’s degree or its foreign equivalent from an accredited institution in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or a related field.
Per 20 CFR 656.17(H)(4): Any suitable combination of education, training, or experience is also acceptable.
Additionally, the applicant must have gained the following skills through work experience or university coursework:
- Managing projects and timeline milestones, analysis and design fixtures.
- 3D modeling within SolidWorks.
- Creating assembly and manufacturing instructions, test plans and inspection protocols.
